Draw your family tree at Kidzania

-

abu dhabi — The National Archives Corner at the children’s international educational city, Kidzania - Dubai, has undergone a modernisation recently. The revamp of the site was carried out based on visitor suggestions.

Since its establishment in 2013, the National Archives has contributed to introducing the new generation to the civilisational and cultural legacy of the UAE and its great leaders, as well as to deepen the sense of national identity, while promoting loyalty and a sense of belonging to the homeland.

The revamp and promotion of the National Archives Corner in Kidzania includes many interactive games to develop the cognitive intelligence of children. These provide scope for further communication between children and their parents. The set-up of the ‘Family Tree’ is at the forefront of these interactive games, as a child is able to learn how to create his own ‘family tree’. This experience enriches a child’s knowledge of his genealogy. All the games at the National Archives Corner is available in both Arabic and English.

The National Archives Corner uses a 360-degree screen to show an educational film that was prepared and filmed in a collaboration between the National Archives and the Emirates Heritage Club.

The film introduces visitors to the heritage of the UAE and its deep history by documenting the country’s history, including the professions practised by members of the UAE maritime community before the period of oil, such as pearl diving and traditional fishing methods. The film also deals with popular games in the UAE, customs and traditions, the land and sea heritage, and health and education in the old UAE society. — Wam
