Charity to give out over 50K meals to labourers

dubai — Beit Al Khair Society has started contributi­ng free meals to low-income workers. By the end of August, the charity will have distribute­d 50,000 meals.

The gesture, which is in line with the declaratio­n of 2017 as the Year of Giving, is meant to “ease the suffering of blue-collar workers and to support them in the sweltering summer temperatur­e”, according to a top official.

Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, general manager of the charity, said the scheme is part of the ‘Feeding Food’ project they launched recently in collaborat­ion with the Emirates Islamic Bank.
