Accidents prompt blocking of RAK ring road
ras al khaimah — The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Ras Al Khaimah Police have blocked the ring road in the emirate.
The road, which is under construction, was being used illegally by some drivers, said Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.
“This careless practice caused a fatal accident recently on this road. The illegal driving also resulted in some damages to the under-construction road,” the minister added.
The contracting company assigned to build the road has been instructed to block the road entirely so that no driver can pass through, he added.
“Metal and concrete barriers have been fixed at the entry and exit points of the road so that they cannot be removed easily by anyone until the construction and development works have been carried out,” said Dr Al Nuaimi.
The ministry has alerted the law enforcement bodies in the emirate that some drivers have intentionally removed these barriers to reach their destinations, posing a grave risk to their lives, he said.
“The ring road is expected to be competed and officially opened for use by the end of this year.”

and prevented the company from continuing its construction.”
Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, commanderin-chief of the RAK Police, said that driving on an under-construction road is a traffic violation as per the federal traffic law.
“The road is still under construction and not fit to drive a vehicle, and therefore, some accidents have taken place on it.”
An Asian man was killed and five others were seriously injured in a recent accident on the underconstruction road.
The collision accident resulted in a fire in one of the cars, and it was gutted.
