-

dubai — SFS and Mir registered convincing victories in the ICC Academy Summer Cricket League (SCL) 2017 T20 tournament organised by the ICC Academy.

SFS defeated Damac Properties by 28 runs. Put in to bat first, SFS posted an impressive 168 for five in 20 overs.

The openers failed to contribute as they fell cheaply before Naveed Mohsin put SFS back on track with a 16-ball 18.

Fawad Jalil showed a lot of aggression as he smashed an impressive 59 from just 36 balls including four boundaries and three sixes while Omer Khan chipped in with 28 from 32 deliveries supported by four boundaries and Rehman Gul hit 14 not out from 17 balls as SFS posted a challenging total.

For Damac Properties Mohit Raghav took 2 for 20 in 4 overs.

Chasing a tricky target, Damac Properties made a rousing start with opener Rahul Soni smashing a brilliant 71 from only 53 deliveries peppered with three sixes and eight boundaries. But none of the other batsmen gave him support as things began to fall apart for Damac Properties. Raman Sharma provided a late fightback scoring 34 from 31 deliveries but despite his knock Damac Properties could muster only 140 for seven in 20 overs.

For the winners, Imran claimed 2 wickets.

In the other match, Mir defeated DXB Eagles by eight wickets. Batting first winning the toss, DXB Eagles were rattled by a brilliant spell from Kashif Mir as they were shot out for a paltry 76 in 14 overs.

Kashif Mir picked six wickets in his four overs leaking just 14 runs while Abdullah Azhar claimed two in his two overs.

In reply, Mir CC were hardly under pressure as Abdul Rehman (25, 12b, 5x4), Salman Babar (21, 6b, 3x6) and Abdullah Afzal (20 not out, 10b, 1x6, 3x4) made significant contributions to overhaul the target in 5.5 overs.
