App to befriend Dubai Police

- Staff Reporter

dubai — The next time you renew your vehicle or driving licences or even pay your traffic fines in Dubai, you can donate an additional dirham that can help the needy. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) now gives you the option of making voluntary donations to the ‘Dirham Khair’ initiative through the RTA and Drivers & Vehicles apps.

Users can make the donations when processing transactions relating to renewing vehicles or driving licences or paying fines.

“A web page in both RTA and drivers & vehicles apps has been dedicated to the Dirham Khair initiative in Arabic and English. Customers have the option to donate Dh1 upon the completion of a trans- action — especially upon renewing vehicles/driving licences, or paying fines,” said Yousef Al Reda, CEO of RTA’s corporate administrative support services sector.

“The proceeds of the Dirham Khair initiative will go to support and improve means of transport in developing countries lacking these services.” Dirham Khair is one of the seven initiatives under the RTA Foundation launched by the authority to support the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving in the UAE.

“It is one of the objectives of the RTA Foundation, which supports cultural, educational, volunteering and charitable works in transport systems. Providing a tool for donating to Dirham Khair will facilitate the procedure for those who wish to support such charitable activities,” added Al Reda.
