dubai — A watchman has been jailed for life for stabbing a woman 66 times after she insulted him and kicked a water bucket he was using. The convict stabbed the victim in her abdomen, chest, back and neck.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted him of premeditated murder. He was sentenced to two additional years over theft charges. He will be deported after completing his jail term.

He had denied in the court that he had intended to kill her. The incident was reported on February 18 last year.

Public prosecution records show that after murdering her, the 25-year-old Pakistani left the studio flat in International City, where the Filipina woman had been staying with her Indian boyfriend. He came back to the crime scene when the ambulance and police arrived.

During the interrogation, the suspect told the police he was cleaning the corridor in the English cluster around 9.30am when the victim started walking around in the area. When he told her not to, she kicked his bucket of water.

He went to her flat at 2pm on the pretext of wanting to fix the fire alarm system. After stabbing her multiple times, he smashed a fish tank on her head. He left the place after stealing some money and covering his bloodtainted clothes with a coat. The police arrested him two days later. The ruling may be appealed within 15 days.
