Take Note: Where you can pre-order Samsung’s new device in the UAE

- — alvin@khaleejtimes.com Alvin R. Cabral

dubai — Whether you were impressed or not with the Galaxy Note 8 when it was finally launched, one thing’s for sure: a Samsung device is still a Samsung device.

Pre-orders for the newest device have begun, and — more importantly — its price is confirmed at Dh3,399. (Collective sigh of relief now; it’s not around Dh3,700 or as high as Dh4,100 as initially speculated.) That’s ‘only’ Dh300 more than the Galaxy S8 Plus.

So, if you’re really hot on becoming among the first to brag that you have it, check out a number of UAE sites that are now accepting preorders and (of course) what goodies they have as a deal-sweetener.

• Souq.com: Pre-orders run until September 10. Those who preorder on the site will get a premium AKG speaker worth Dh599 and a Dh100 voucher to spend on Souq.com’s Samsung Official Store. Starts shipping from September 14.

• Jumbo Electronics: Runs until September 10, and that complimentary AKG speaker is also included. Good news: “There are many stocks available at the moment,” the company said in a statement to Khaleej Times.

• Eros: Runs until September 9. Like the one above, customers who

avail of this offer will receive an AKG S30 speaker worth Dh599. However, the T&C says this is ‘subject to availability’. Delivery, however, will be in 23-24 business days. ‘No colour commitment on pre-orders.’

• Sharaf DG: Aside from the same AKG speaker worth Dh599, they’ve upped the ante with Microsoft Office 365 worth Dh279 and free delivery slapped into the offer. You can also get it for as less as Dh160 through Sharaf DG’s Flexipay service. • Jacky’s Electronics: Yes, you still get that AKG speaker worth Dh599, and will be delivered in three to five business days (cash on delivery available). As at this writing, only nine units are left. And only a black model is available.

• Axiom Telecom: Runs until September 10. And aside from the AKG speaker, you’ll also get a Samsung Wireless Charger worth Dh199 (that’s a total of Dh798 freebies). Starts shipping from September 12.

• Plug Ins: Runs until September 10. Those who pre-order will ‘get their devices a few days earlier than the launch date’, with delivery to commence on September 14. Only one unit per customer is allowed, and, hmmm... no signs of any freebies (yet?).

• Carrefour: Runs until September 10. Again, no free stuff being offered (but since we all know Carrefour, I’m betting they will have something later on, or instore). Anyway, delivery will be available in the third week of September, or around the ‘official launch’, as they say.

• LuLu Hypermarket: The Dh599 AKG speaker is back, and that’s about it.

• Emax: Here’s a unique one: they’re offering their pre-orders via text message (if you’ve subscribed to them), which says: “No Waiting, No lines! Pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 @ EMAX & get a AKG speaker FREE worth AED 599. Make it yours for only AED 163 per month! T&C apply.”

Well, just take note (pun intended) and contemplate before you decide.

?? AFP ?? Hello? Wouldn’t it be nice to have bragging rights by being one of the first to own the Samsung Galaxy Note 8? —
