ajman — There is some great news for Ajman residents who frequently travel to Dubai. A new bus service has been launched that will take passengers from Ajman’s Mussalah area directly to Al Rashidiya Metro Station. What’s more, there is free WiFi onboard, also!

Omar Mohammed Lootah, executive director of transportation operations at the Ajman Public Transportation Corporation (APTC), told Khaleej Times that seven buses “equipped with the latest technology” have been pushed into service for this.

In addition to the free WiFi, commuters can watch movies and check out news on a screen in front of their seats. “The screen is placed at the back of each seat for the convenience of each passenger,” Lootah added.

Ajman to Dubai tickets cost Dh15, while Dubai to Ajman tickets are priced Dh12.

Lootah explained that the Dh3.5 million bus has a capacity of 50 passengers. Buses will ply every 30 minutes on the route.

Lootah added that the Ajman Transport Corporation currently operates 60 buses.

“All bus stops in Ajman are equipped with an electronic screen that shows the dates and timings of buses, and the estimated time of arrival of the next bus.”

According to Lootah, the number of public transport users in the emirate has increased in the first Photos by M. Sajjad half of this year. Over 1.3 million passengers used public transport during this period — marking a 22 per cent rise in commuters as compared to last year.
