Sharjah joins the big league with Dh24B mega project
sharjah — Developer Arada on Wednesday unveiled its Dh24 billion Aljada project, the largest ever mixed-use development in Sharjah.
Slated for completion by 2025, the project will span over an area of 2.2sqkm and is located on the last major plot of undeveloped land in the heart of the emirate. Set to combine the ambition of the future with Sharjah’s rich heritage, the development will play host to a population of around 70,000 upon its completion.
Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, vice-chairman of Arada, told Khaleej Times that construction on the project will begin in the first quarter of 2018, and that phase one will focus on around 280 units.
“This development, I believe really makes people take a step back and say that Sharjah deserves a lot more that what it is getting from developers,” he said. “And with the launch of this project we have proven just that.”
“Sharjah is the place to be,” added Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, CEO of Arada.
Aljada is an all-encompassing district that comprises considerable retail, leisure and entertainment options, in addition to a wide range of residential and commercial offerings, such as a dedicated business park.

Set to combine the ambition of the future with Sharjah’s rich heritage, the development will play host to a total of population of around 70,000 upon its completion. Sales for Aljada are now open.
Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, vice-chairman of Arada, told Khaleej Times after the launch ceremony that construction on the project will begin in the first quarter of 2018, and that phase one of the project will focus on the delivery of around 280 units. Construction will be spread out across 10 phases, and contracts for the mega project will start being announced in December later this year.
“I think that this development really gets people to take a step back and say that Sharjah deserves a lot better than what it is getting from developers,” he said. “And with the launch of this project we have proven just that.”
Aljada, to be developed by Arada, is an all-encompassing district that comprises considerable retail, leisure and entertainment options, in addition to a wide range of residential and commercial offerings, such as a dedicated business park.
Speaking on the strength of the emirate’s property market, Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, CEO of Arada, said: “We tested the market early on with Nasma Residences and we had record sales. All of this confirmed our reports that Sharjah is the place to be. With Aljada, we expect to break our own records. People have seen the value of the destination, and the project is being well received by investors and end users alike; we have already sold over 150 units.”
Aljada’s entertainment and leisure precinct, the Central Hub, is a significant addition to an emirate that is already widely regarded as the cultural capital of the Arab world. The Central Hub will be a major draw for tourists and residents with its showpiece musical fountain display, situated in a designed urban piazza, populated with an array of cafes and restaurants. Among the Central Hub’s other attractions will be the largest children’s adventure and discovery complex in the Northern Emirates, alongside skateparks, and an extreme sports centre.
Arada’s chairman, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, noted that Aljada reflects Arada’s unwavering commitment to contribute to the Sharjah leadership’s vision by creating unique urban communities with ample green spaces. “We want to offer residents and investors upscale living experiences that are currently unavailable in the market and ensure a better life for everyone who visits, lives, or works in Aljada,” he said.
“We are confident that this development will raise interest in Sharjah even further while strengthening its position as a secure and sought-after investment destination. Aljada also seeks to attract businesses looking to establish their base out of Sharjah, the UAE’s newest booming economic hub and a thriving business-friendly environment.”
