dubai — As a new batch of young executive and government leaders graduated from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development on Wednesday, the occasion was marked as a message for the UAE people to continue in their efforts to becoming future world leaders.

During the ceremony, attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, laid down a new vision of the centre, which aims to create a generation of state leaders that complies with the ‘UAE 2071’ vision.

Emphasising the importance of human capital as one of the most important factors in continuing to drive the nation forward, Sheikh Mohammed said the centre was a starting point for creating leading minds at the forefront of the future.

Sheikh Mohammed said: “Today we are witnessing the graduation of a new batch of leaders of our country, and we are proud of what they have learnt and the new leadership skills they have acquired. We are also proud that our Emirati leaders represent a model to be followed, making our country a global centre for creating the leaders of the future.

“Therefore, we have relaunched the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development as a starting point to creating leading minds who can lead and shape the future. The centre is creating a new generation of leaders of our country, complying with the vision of the UAE centenary in 2017,”

Speaking about the need to continually invest in human resource, Sheikh Mohammed said creating leaders is the UAE’s top priority as an effective leader is a successful and beneficial investment for future governments, and for developing nations.

With the aim to achieve the UAE’s vision for the future through the development of leadership, Sheikh Mohammed said this will be done primarily through the centre.

“We must put all our resources and thought to provide direct support to the centre, which draws a clear map of future leaders in the UAE,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

He said officials must work hard to “create leaders who will shape the future of the region and the UAE”, and they must harness all the capacities and ideas to provide direct support to the centre.

“I will directly supervise and follow the process of creating our future leaders on a regular basis,” he added.

To date, the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development has seen more than 600 leaders graduate from its programme, many of which are now working in crucial government sectors in the UAE leading some of the country’s major projects.

The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, and several directors-general and many leaders who previously graduated from the centre.
