Symbolic N-Day event at Astana Expo venue

abu dhabi — Symbolic celebratio­ns marked UAE National Day at the ongoing Expo 2017 Astana in Kazakh capital. The National Media Council (NMC) organised the event at Expo 2017, which will conclude on Sunday.

A long-standing tradition at world expos, the ‘symbolic national day’ allows participat­ing countries to showcase their culture, heritage and traditions to the internatio­nal audience.

Mansour Al Mansouri, directorge­neral of the NMC, said that the UAE’s participat­ion in Expo 2017 under the theme of ‘Future Energy allowed the country to shed light on internatio­nal efforts and accomplish­ments in renewable energy including projects integral to the lead- ership’s developmen­t vision, that focuses on investing in its people.

Besides Al Mansouri, the National Day celebratio­ns were attended by Timur Toktabayev, Vice-Minister of Investment and Developmen­t of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Dr Mohammad Al Jaber, the UAE’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan; and Salem Al Amri, commission­er-general of the UAE Pavilion at Expo Astana; which also saw a number of distinguis­hed VIP guests including the ambassador­s of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Morocco.

In addition to the National Day celebratio­n, the Expo also saw the ‘Emirati-Kazakh Friendship Days’ celebratio­n taking place across all areas of the Kazakh capital Astana. The ‘Friendship Days’ programmes will run till the last day of Expo Astana.

Half-a-million visitors

The UAE’s pavilion drew more than half-a-million visitors with its interactiv­e futuristic appeal. The displays showcased hightech solutions and ideas, which offered an insight into the UAE’s pioneering achievemen­ts in the energy sector. The UAE’s pavilion achieved an impressive 91 per cent visitor satisfacti­on rate, based on the pavilion’s content and overall guest experience. Al Mansouri added that the UAE’s participat­ion at the Astana Expo holds greater significan­ce f as it signals the beginning of the countdown to the highly-anticipate­d Expo 2020 Dubai. He stressed that the 2020 event is not only a source of pride for all Emiratis and expats in the UAE, but a testament to the country’s achievemen­ts and aspiration­s to build a more innovative, vibrant and prosperous future.
