Ajman Internatio­nal Pro Jiu-Jitsu starts Sept 8

abu dhabi — Under the patronage of Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, the Ajman Internatio­nal Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championsh­ip will take place from Sept. 8 to 9 at Ajman Youth Centre.

The two-day event is part of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation Agenda for the 2017-2018 Sports Season and its World Ranking and Abu Dhabi World Profession­al Jiu-Jitsu Qualifying Series, and is open to all national and internatio­nal Jiu-Jitsu teams, irrespecti­ve of the athletes’ level of proficienc­y, age and playing status.

The championsh­ip reinforces the UAE’s commitment to organising and hosting the world’s best Jiu-Jitsu championsh­ips and is a testament to how deep-rooted the sport has become in the country.

This new edition of the championsh­ip highlights Ajman’s growing profile as an emerging hub for world class Jiu-Jitsu, showcasing some of the most skilled Jiu-Jitsu athletes, across all age groups.

The weekend’s championsh­ip will for the first time witness an increased participat­ion from several clubs including Al Jazeera Club, Al Ain Club, Al Wahda Club, Ajman Club and Emirates Club. All competitor­s participat­ing, from White to Black Belt athletes, are currently affiliated to the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for the 2017- 2018 season.

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, UAE JiuJitsu Federation Board Member and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “We are honoured by the kind patronage of Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, to advance JiuJitsu in the emirate of Ajman, and uplift its current presence.

“We aim to provide a competitiv­e environmen­t and achieve sporting excellence at both a domestic and internatio­nal level. This championsh­ip is an ideal event for athletes aspiring for profession­alism and official ranking,” he added.

The Ajman Internatio­nal Pro JiuJitsu Championsh­ip 2017 is being proudly supported by Abu Dhabi Media, as part of their strategic partnershi­p with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation to increase local and internatio­nal interest in the sport.
