Power plant to light up 800 houses in Sharjah
sharjah — The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority’s (Sewa) Al Harrai No 1 power distribution plant started functioning on Wednesday, supplying power to 800 residential units.
The electricity will be provided in a phased manner. While the first phase covers 200 houses, the second the phase will cover 400 houses, villas and residential units.
Sewa chairman Dr Rashid Al Leem said that the plant is an important addition and will meet the increasing demand for electricity in Khorfakkan. It will keep pace with urban expansions in the eastern region and improve public services and facilities.
He added that Sewa is implementing a plan to develop electricity distribution networks and plants in all areas of Sharjah. The authority has joined hands with 200 engineering consultants to meet the requirements and mechanisms of smart energy management systems in the emirate.
Mai Al Leem, director of projects development in Sewa, said that Khorfakkan city has 10 power distribution plants with 33KV voltage. It works according to the best environmental and technical specifications to achieve a stable electricity network. “The technical teams in Khorfakkan continue their efforts to provide the best services, applying the latest technology to save time and effort,” Al Leem added.
