Power plant to light up 800 houses in Sharjah

sharjah — The Sharjah Electricit­y and Water Authority’s (Sewa) Al Harrai No 1 power distributi­on plant started functionin­g on Wednesday, supplying power to 800 residentia­l units.

The electricit­y will be provided in a phased manner. While the first phase covers 200 houses, the second the phase will cover 400 houses, villas and residentia­l units.

Sewa chairman Dr Rashid Al Leem said that the plant is an important addition and will meet the increasing demand for electricit­y in Khorfakkan. It will keep pace with urban expansions in the eastern region and improve public services and facilities.

He added that Sewa is implementi­ng a plan to develop electricit­y distributi­on networks and plants in all areas of Sharjah. The authority has joined hands with 200 engineerin­g consultant­s to meet the requiremen­ts and mechanisms of smart energy management systems in the emirate.

Mai Al Leem, director of projects developmen­t in Sewa, said that Khorfakkan city has 10 power distributi­on plants with 33KV voltage. It works according to the best environmen­tal and technical specificat­ions to achieve a stable electricit­y network. “The technical teams in Khorfakkan continue their efforts to provide the best services, applying the latest technology to save time and effort,” Al Leem added.
