Cabinet grants visa on arrival for Indians with UK, EU residency
1 His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who chaired a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, addressed over a million students in the UAE and congratulated them on the smooth beginning of a new academic year. The Cabinet commended the directives of the President on unifying the education system. 2 The Cabinet approved visa on arrival for Indian nationals with United Kingdom and European Union residency visas. 3 It endorsed community services as an alternative to jail in the case of small crimes.
4 The Cabinet
approved laws governing excise and
calculation of the tax in line with a treaty signed by the GCC member states to reach economic integration. 5 The meeting adopted Federal Law No 07 of 2017 on fiscal procedures related to all tax laws in the UAE, and the rights and obligations between the Federal Tax Authority, tax payers, agents and legal representatives. 6 It okayed the restructuring of the management board of the Securities and Commodities Authority headed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, to achieve the strategic and operational goals. 7 The Cabinet gave approval to a decision to impose excise on products that are deemed harmful to individuals and society. Accordingly, the tax structure on these goods is as follows: 100% tax on tobacco, 50% on soft drinks, 100% on energy drinks, and up to 100% on other products of the same nature. 8 On the international front, the Cabinet endorsed the establishment of an embassy in Georgia.
