Leading supermarket chain donates Dh365,200 to Dubai charity
dubai — After a two-month long campaign, a leading supermarket chain handed over Dh365,200 towards charity, as part of its’ Year of Giving initiative.
The supermarket chain, Choithrams, handed over the amount to Dubai Cares to support its education programmes for underprivileged youth in developing countries. Subhash K, corporate marketing manager of Choithrams, said that the campaign titled ‘Ramadan Goodness Campaign’ (launched during Ramadan) was a great success.
“The generous contribution of shoppers and customers helped to raise Dh265,197 from stores across the UAE and Choithrams suppliers contributed Dh100,000. Hence the final charity amount donated to Dubai Cares is Dh365,200.”
Rajiv Warrier, CEO of Choithrams, handed over a cheque to Abdulla Al Shehhi, director of business support department at Dubai Cares, in a ceremony held at the Choithrams Al Ghazal supermarket.
The group also recognised the dedication of the supermarket staff, its retail teams, HR, finance and IT staff who demonstrated outstanding performance during the campaign at the ceremony.

The Choithrams stores at Greens, Al Ghazal and Palm Azure emerged as the top fundraisers for the cause. Customers were either requested to donate Dh4 or more or purchase Choithrams products with red stickers to contribute to the charity donation. L.T.
