dubai — An unemployed man stood trial in the Court of First Instance on the charge of causing the death of a drug addict after he injected him with a heroin overdose.

The 36-year-old Emirati is accused of facilitating the use to the deceased on October 21, 2015, whose body was found near his car shortly later.

He is believed to have left his countryman for dead. However, he was arrested after his DNA was found on the fatal heroin shot.

The accused did not attend the hearing on Thursday.

“Around 9am, we received a report about the body of a young man near a car in Al Satwa. We were part of the forensic team that went there and picked up evidence from inside the car as well as from the place where it was parked.

Medical pills were found near the driver’s seat. Cigarette butts and an injection syringe were found dropped outside the car,” a police corporal told the prosecutor.

All evidence were seized and was sent later to the Dubai police Crime Lab.Another police sergeant from the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence said they cordoned-off the crime scene to preserve all possible evidence.

Heroin and morphine were found in the deceased’s system, the forensic report showed.

A criminal evidence report showed the defendant’s DNA was found on the heroin shot. Other DNA traces lifted from one cigarette butt at least put him in the crime scene.
