dubai — Day four action at the indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai was a story of fluctuatin­g fortunes, for some of the teams. Sri Lanka went down fighting against Australia, only to jump back into contention for the fourth semifinal spot after a convincing win over hosts UAE.

Sri Lanka used their strength in the bowling and fielding department­s to contain the UAE to 23, which was always going to be a tough task.

Vikrant Shetty, who was leading the UAE against Sri Lanka, talked about the positives and negatives for his team from this result. “Right now it is about wishing other people don’t perform, which is not a great place to be in. We were hoping for a win against Sri Lanka but it didn’t happen. All we can do is win against Malaysia and hope the other teams don’t do so well.
