Philips sets up special food truck to improve the public’s understanding of cardiovascular diseases awareness in line with World Heart Day
Royal Philips will take part in the global World Heart Day initiative on September 29. Dedicated to promoting healthy eating and lifestyle, Philips will host a healthy food truck in Dubai Knowledge Village today (Sep 27), and at Kite Beach on September 28, 29 and 30.
World Heart Day, organised by the World Heart Federation, aims to raise awareness on cardiovascular disease and means of its prevention each year. As a global leader in health technology, Philips is proud to partner with the World Heart Federation and VPS Healthcare, one of the fastest growing integrated healthcare service providers in the Middle East, which has 11 hospitals in the UAE, including Medeor Hospital in Dubai.
Philips and VPS Hospitals will participate to increase the public’s understanding of cardiovascular diseases, which are one of the top causes of death and disability in the Middle East. This will be done by placing a healthy food truck in prime locations that young adults and families visit regularly.
Guests to the Philips healthy food trucks will get the opportunity to measure their heart age through a specially designed online application built by Philips experts. This application helps users become more aware of their heart condition, and at the same time recognise the seriousness of heart disease.
An experienced medical team, including a cardiologist from Medeor Hospital Dubai, will be present at the truck to provide a free heart health check-up and give advice on reducing heart age.
Free basic CPR (fCardiopulmonary resuscitation) demos for the public with Philips defibrillator will also be available to bring awareness and train people to help save lives.
Vincenzo Ventricelli, Market Leader Personal Health Middle East and Turkey, at Royal Philips, said: “Heart-related diseases cause nearly 30 per cent of deaths in the UAE, making it the number one cause of death in the country. This initiative is in line with the UAE Vision 2021, which emphasises the importance of preventive medicine and seeks to reduce lifestyle related diseases. At Philips, we understand the importance of heart health and we are convinced that prevention is better than cure. We are calling for people to act now to take control of their own health by changing their habits in a simple way, and our healthy propositions such as the Airfryer, Air purifier or the Sonicare toothbrush are here to help them make that switch to healthy living.”
Guests at the healthy food trucks will receive fresh, healthy juices and snacks made by Philips kitchen appliances, which are designed to prepare healthy and tasty meals at home in an easy way, helping everyone to have a balanced and nutritious diet.
Philips will also display various products in healthy eating, oral hygiene and air cleanliness at the Philips healthy food truck.
