Hyperloop

One of the most exciting innovations in transportation, it moves on nearly airless tubes at 500-800mph. Dubai to Abu Dhabi could be done in just 12 minutes, says Hyperloop One, which is working on the project with Dubai.

Maglev trains

Magnetic levitation trains are not just a lofty dream held over from the 1950s. They are already in operation in Shanghai and Japan. South Korea is building a maglev train that will operate within the Incheon Airport.

Driverless cars

A robotic driver can think faster and smarter than a human driver — and looks in all directions at once. That’s the idea behind autonomous driving, where you take your hands off the wheel and let the car do the driving for you.

Volocopter

The giant drone-like vehicle has two seats, 18 propellers, and is powered by nine batteries. This allows it to have a flight time of around 30 minutes. The flight is in its testing phase, which will last five years and eventually include pilots.

Transport pods

What if you could jump into a moving pod and speed away to another part of the city? The pods seat one person and move on their own over a pre-described route. The idea is that the human operator interacts with the pod using a touchscreen in the windshield.
