ajman — The community support centre of the Ajman Police on Wednesday rescued an Uzbek family from being homeless after they were thrown out of their apartment for not paying rent.

According to the police, the family of three — a 38-year-old woman, her 71-year-old mother and nine-year-old son — was staying in the UAE illegally and the child had no documentation since his birth. The mother’s visa expired eight years ago.

The Ajman Police, in coordination with the child protection department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA), saved the family after they were thrown out of their apartment.

Captain Wafa Al Hosani, director of the community support centre at the Ajman Police, said that they managed to reunite the family and sent them back to their home country. This happened after the GDRFA exempted the fines on the child and

They left on Wednesday from Dubai International Airport after the ministry, in coordination with the Uzbekistan consulate, issued documents for the child who had no documentation since his birth.

Luda Mila, the grandmother, appreciated the unprecedented humanitarian gesture of the Ajman Police, the MoI and the GDRFA for the help that they extended to her family. “I have always heard about the generosity of the UAE. So, I am not surprised by this gesture.”

She praised the wise leadership of the country for their guidance in providing every bit of help to many UAE residents.
