ras al khaimah — Firefighters have managed to rescue an Asian woman trapped in a big fire at her house in the Muairidh Market of Ras Al Khaimah.

The civil defence men put out the flames before spreading to nearby houses, said Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, director of the RAK Civil Defence. “The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the fire, dispatched the civil defence and rescue teams to the site in a record time.

“Investigation showed that the fire erupted in a traditional house that is divided into two parts. The first is resided by an Asian family while the other is used as a labour accommodation.”

The woman was trapped in the first part of the house and the firefighters managed to bring her out of the burning house, he added.

“She was rescued safely with no injuries, while the flames were extinguished with water only.”

The civil defence personnel also managed to put out another fire that erupted in two vehicles in the busy Al Nakheel area. “No injuries were reported in the two incidents.”

In the first, the fire started at the front part of a vehicle for no clear reason, they disclosed. “The second fire was due to an electric short circuit which took place in another vehicle in the same Nakheel area.”

The RAK firefighters put out the fire in a record time, and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby vehicles. “However, the two vehicles were gutted in the fire.” ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
