Woman lures man to hotel; duo rob him

- Marie Nammour

dubai — A 22-year-old woman allegedly lured a man into her hotel apartment, where two of her male friends assaulted him and stole his cash and watch, a Dubai court has heard. They then took off his clothes and photographed him with the woman’s mobile phone.

The woman, who was in the country on a visit visa, and her two friends allegedly blackmailed the victim, a Saudi, with the photos, threatening to circulate them if he reported them to the police.

The Nigerian defendants have been charged in the Court of First Instance with forcible theft, sexual assault, blackmail and breach of privacy.

The incident was reported on August 3 to Al Rafaa police station. A police officer quoted the complainant as saying that he met the woman, who introduced herself as a European woman, via a chat application. She reportedly agreed to have sex with him for Dh500. Once in her hotel room, he “found out about her trick” and refused to pay the money. She then allegedly brought her friends to assault him.

The police arrested the trio around 4.30pm on the same day at the hotel in Al Mankhool area.

The main defendant confessed in the public prosecution investigation that she had a deal with the victim to have sex with him for cash. But once he reached her hotel room, “he changed his mind”. She said her friends then assaulted him and took inappropriate photos of his.

She made the victim pay her Dh500, while her friend robbed another Dh500 and his watch. They threatened to post the photos on social media if he complained to the police.

The second defendant, 27, claimed the woman told him to be around when the victim would come. And later after the victim refused to pay, the woman sought his help. “I told him to pay the amount even if he did not have sex with her,” he confessed.

He confessed that their third accomplice, 25, clicked photos of the victim to “scare him” so that he would not complain against them.

The woman’s mobile phone that had the victim’s photos has been seized and deposited with the public prosecution.

The court will pronounce a ruling on October 30.
