Officer in dock for sexually assaulting 13-yr-old boy

- Marie Nammour

dubai — A 29-year-old man has gone on trial in the Court of First Instance for sexually assaulting a teenager.

According to public prosecution records, the Emirati officer invited the 13-year-old boy, a Syrian, to meet him at a mall where he would wait for him together with a mutual friend.

But the accused showed up alone at the mall and then lured the victim into a ride in his car. He drove to a dark area away from residential buildings in Al Warqa, where he allegedly assaulted the victim sexually after centrally locking his car.

“He began to talk nervously, and I got scared. He then showed me how to massage his back,” the victim recounted to investigators. He was believed to have told the boy he would let his friends assault him too if he spoke to anyone about what he did. The defendant then gave the boy Dh120 to take a cab and dropped him in Al Qusais.

The victim told the prosecutor that he felt so angry and embarrassed as he could not defend himself. His mother took him to the police station. The boy’s clothes were handed over to the police which was sent to the forensic lab for necessary tests.

According to the criminal evidence department, samples sent for tests matched with the defendant’s DNA.

The court will pronounce a ruling on October 30.
