This tour lets you witness Emirati way of life first hand
abu dhabi — The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Al Ain National Museum have organised a unique public tour for both residents and tourists to experience Emirati culture first hand.
The first tour of the new ‘Travel Through Our Traditions’ programme took place on Saturday, and a second installment will take place on November 4.
The tour, departing from Al Ain National Museum at 9am, will pass through Al Ain Oasis, and end at a traditional Emirati household. Visitors will be able to spend time with Emirati women, families, and farmers in their homes and farms, offering unique insights into the traditions and customs of Emirati life.
The programme aims to educate the larger UAE community and preserve customs and traditions integral to the UAE. The autumn months are an important stage in the process of farming dates in the UAE and the tour will give participants the chance to learn about this vital agricultural resource and the customs and traditions that are intrinsic to date farming.
The process of harvesting dates includes preparing and drying the fruits, and packaging them before they are stored for a year, to be used in the winter months. Al Ain is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited settlements.
