Volunteering programme for students launched
dubai — The Autism Rocks Support Centre has announced the start of a new monthly volunteering programme available for high school students. The new initiative called ‘Teens Rock’ will connect students with People of Determination and mentor them through an engaging programme they create with the help of the Autism Rocks Support Centre team.
Students who volunteer are encouraged to be involved in activities as individuals and as part of a team that take place in local, national and international contexts. Creativity, activity, service (CAS) enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development as well as their social and civic development, through experiential learning, lending an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the rest of the IB Diploma Programme.
Claudia Sidoli, director of Autism Rocks Support Centre, said: “Autism Rocks Support Centre is more than just a centre providing world-class therapy for children

on the autism spectrum. We are also committed to play an active role within the UAE community by giving back and offering our services to the youth and People of Determination. Since the opening of the centre in May, we have received strong and encouraging responses from educators, families and the wider community. With this new monthly programme, we want to act as officers for People of Determination and help them develop their personality to achieve their goals.””
‘Teens Rock’ will start on Saturday at 10am. The programme will also include activities such as basketball, obstacle courses, art classes and many more. Autism Rocks Support Centre is also welcoming other schools to get involved and join the initiative.
