Beach Soccer Cup to remain in Dubai
dubai — The Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup, arguably the best yearly beach soccer competition of the calendar, will keep taking place in Dubai, at least, for the coming three years, following the agreement signed by Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council and Joan Cuscó, BSWW, a Press release said.
“The Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup was born here in Dubai and today we at Dubai Sports Council are really pleased to extend our partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide and keep this tournament here until 2020,” Saeed Hareb said.
“We have enjoyed a really great partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide and together, with the support of our strategic partners, we have managed to turn this tournament into the most prestigious annual event in the sport, second only to the World Cup in value, with eight of the world’s best teams competing.
“The tournament has grown year-on-year, becoming one of the most anticipated and loved events on Dubai’s sporting calendar. We, at Dubai Sports Council, are really pleased with that. And we are also confident that our partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide will see even brighter days in the years ahead,” he added.
Joan Cusco, BSWW Executive Vice President, said: “We feel very honoured for having signed this extension with the Dubai Sports Council, which is the demonstration of the common will to keep having the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup here in Dubai for many years. We have signed a three-year extension, but it is in our minds to bring our relationship way longer, because, as I always say: Dubai loves beach soccer and beach soccer loves Dubai. This has always been a place we call home.”
“I want to reiterate our gratitude to the Dubai Sports Council for their continued trust, support and their approach, and, also for making this wonderful event happen year after year.”
