abu dhabi — Two goals by Fabio Lima (71, 79) in the space of eight minutes in the last quarter of the ‘Bur Dubai’ derby kept Al Wasl at the top of the Arabian Gulf League standings with a 2-0 win over Al Nasr on Thursday at the Al Rashid Stadium.

Al Nasr’s Joan Oumari and Amer Mubarak were warned while Salem Al Azizi of Al Wasl also received a yellow card in the game.

Meanwhile, Dibba and Hatta split points in the seventh round match of the Arabian Gulf League at Fujairah Stadium on Thursday. An intense match saw Hatta finish with 10 players.

Four goals were scored on the day and the first one came in the 10th minute as Hatta’s Brazilian star Samuel Rosa found the back of the net through a header. It was a goal scripted in boardroom as Rosa drew the defence out from the left flank and passed onto Abdullah Ali, who found Adrian Ropotan at the right end and the Romanian headed to Rosa eagerly waiting for the ball.

However, within minutes Dibba equalised through a penalty taken by Driss Fettouhi. The Moroccan managed to score despite keeper Obaid Raihan getting a hand to the ball.

With opportunities missed and pressure mounting, the game got feisty. Hatta’s Mohamed Jamal earned a booking just before half time.

After the break, Dibba maintained the momentum by going up with a spectacular goal. Fettouhi drove almost out of play taking two defenders with him and then bisected two other defenders in the box to find Malian striker Alassane Diallo, who neatly deposited the ball to the left corner of the goal.

Dibba were brimming after the classy goal.
