Duo steals Dh450K from car in Ajman, arrested

ajman — The Ajman Police have arrested two Africans who stole Dh450,000 from a car belonging to a GCC national who left it in his vehicle and headed to a shop located on one of Ajman industrial area roads.

The car owner informed the criminal investigat­ion department (CID) after he found the robbers had broken the vehicle’s front glass window and stole the money kept inside it.

Major Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, deputy director of the CID, said that as soon as the police were notified about the robbery, an investigat­ion team was formed to launch a probe after collecting evidence and fingerprin­ts.

procedures were carried out to arrest them. On being interrogat­ed, the duo confessed that they had transferre­d the stolen money to their country. The two suspects have been arrested and will be referred to the public prosecutio­n. The police are working on retrieving the stolen money and hand it over to its owner.

“We urge people not to keep huge sums of money or valuables in their cars. They should be wary after withdrawin­g money from banks or ATMs,” Al Nuaimi said.
