UAE a ‘gem’ in shaping future of world

dubai — The UAE Government Excellence Model (GEM) has been recognised as a global reference for supporting ambitious government­s in improving their efficiency and shaping the future of their entities.

The GEM was recognised as an internatio­nal standard at a ceremony held in Dubai and endorsed by representa­tives from nine organisati­ons: European Organisati­on for Quality (EOQ); Asia-Pacific Quality Organisati­on (APQO); Australian Quality Organisati­on (AOQ); Juran world leaders in quality improvemen­t; European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM); Internatio­nal Academy for Quality (IAQ); American Quality Associatio­n (ASQ); Asian Network for Quality (ANQ); and University of Miami.

The GEM embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve excellence.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, reaffirmed that the UAE Government “is continuous­ly pushing forward with its efforts for developmen­t and implementi­ng excellence”.

Al Gergawi added: “The UAE Government has thus become a point of reference for other government­s looking to enhance their performanc­e and achieve happiness and better quality of life for their communitie­s. The GEM is a pioneering model for the formation of future-oriented, excellence- based government­s that prioritise transforma­tion through innovation and developmen­t in government work. Global accreditat­ion comes with great responsibi­lity, and with that in mind, we are continuous­ly working to develop the GEM, enhancing its flexibilit­y and adaptabili­ty

The recognitio­n of the GEM opens the doors wide for establishi­ng the UAE as a premier global destinatio­n for shaping the future of excellence.”

Ohoud bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing, said the UAE government focuses on results, impact and effectiven­ess. “Our leaders advocate for transformi­ng excellence into corporate culture and a daily habit.”
