This was revealed in a meeting of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, held on the directives of Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairperson of the Bank. The board met under the chairmanship of Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality at the Dubai World Trade Centre, on the sidelines of the Dubai International Food Safety Conference.
Lootah pointed out the importance of learning the best practices around the world to develop the food bank’s operational plans. He added that the 2018 work plan will focus on coordination with the other emirates to establish UAE Bank food collection sites.
Lootah added the focus will be on a range of projects that serve the bank, and it is important to develop initiatives outside the country and help the affected countries. He also directed to develop a marketing plan for the food bank in coordination with Dubai Media Incorporated and present it at the next meeting, adding that Dubai Municipality will cover all administrative matters and expenses of UAE Food Bank.
The meeting witnessed a suggestion that the community be involved in competitions that will contribute to the development of the UAE Food Bank’s working mechanism, focusing on marketing campaigns and promoting UAE Bank food initiatives.
A proposal was made to organise meetings during the World Government Summit, and to study the possibility of signing twinning agreements with some countries.
The report on the main achievements of Food Bank highlighted the proposal for the new site for the Hatta region.
