Sharjah’s publishing city promoted at Kuwait fair

-

sharjah — The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has introduced its recently-opened Sharjah Publishing City (SPC) at the 42nd edition of Kuwait International Book Fair.

The book fair, which concluded on Saturday, featured 479 exhibitors from 30 Arab and foreign countries. Kuwaiti officials who visited the SBA at the fair hailed the efforts of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting culture at regional and international levels, and enhancing relations between the UAE and Kuwait.

SBA chairman Ahmed Al Ameri said: “Our participation in GCC and Arab book fairs is a priority, and in line with the vision of Sheikh Sultan, to bolster ties of cooperation and partnership with cultural, art and publishing institutions in Arab countries, with the aim of promoting Arabic culture on a wider global scale.”

Al Ameri highlighted that the SBA is making the best use of its participation in the book fair to promote the SPC, which offers Arab publishers a window into book markets across the world. “The SPC offers world-class services and high-end facilities for publishing professionals , including literary agencies, printing organisations and distribution companies, all under one roof.”

The SBA conducted a series of meetings with participating publishers, cultural institutions and other senior figures to enhance cooperation and discussed participation in the upcoming edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, which will take place from April 18 to 28 next year. — Wam
