Parking free, revised RTA timings for 4-day holiday

dubai — Another long weekend is coming and residents of Dubai are provided with the revised schedule of public transporta­tion. On Monday, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced its revised business hours in order to help residents plan their long weekend.

The country braces for a fourday holiday for the public sector where as the private sector will get three-day holiday during the birthday of Prophet Muhammad ( Peace be upon him), Commemorat­ion Day and National Day.

“Customers Happiness Centres will be closed during the Prophet’s Birthday, Commemorat­ion Day and National Day holiday from Thursday (November 30) and resume duty on Monday (December 4).

He added: “On Thursday, Metro Red Line stations will operate from 5am to 1am (of the following day). On Friday, these stations will operate from 10am to 1am (of the following day), and on Saturday and Sunday, they will operate from 5am to 12 midnight. Meanwhile, Metro Green Line stations will operate on Thursday from 5:30am to 1am (of the following day). On Friday, these stations will operate from 10am to 1am (of the following day), and on Saturday 2 and Sunday, they will operate from 5:30am to 12am.

“On Thursday, the Dubai Tram will operate from 6am to 1 am (of the following day), Friday from 9am to 1am (of the following day), and on Saturday and Sunday, from 6 am to 1 am (of the following day).”

The timing of public buses (Dubai Bus), inter city buses, Metro Link bus stations and metro transit services will also follow new schedule during the holidays.

Main bus stations such as Gold Souk will operate from 5am to 12:29 am while Al Ghubaiba Station will be in service from 5am to 12:10 (past midnight). Inter-city bus service from Al Ghubaiba will be operating around the clock to Sharjah (Jubail) Station, while Abu Dhabi service will be running from 4:30am to 12am. Substation­s, such as Union Square, will be in service from 4:30am to 12:25am. The bus service will run at at Deira City Centre Station from 5:35am to 11:30pm and at Karama Station, the service will be from 6:10am to 10:20pm.

External Stations such as Sharjah’s Al Taawun Route will run from 5:30am to 10pm, Ajman Station from 4:27am until 11pm. At Fujairah Station the service will run from 5:23am to 9:30pm, and Hatta Station from 5:30am to 9:30pm.

The popular traditiona­l abras will be operating at Dubai Creek Stations (Ghubaiba, Baniyas, and Dubai Old Souk, and Al Seef) from 10am to 12am. However, at Sheikh Zayed Station, the service will operate from 4pm to 11:30pm.

However, electric abras will be operating at Al Fuhaidi Station (round trip) from 2pm to 10pm; Burj Khalifa from 6pm to 11pm; Al Mamzar Station from 2pm to 12am; Global Village Station from 4pm to 12am. Air-conditione­d abras (Al Jaddaf, Dubai Festival City) will operate from 07:00 am to 12am.
