10-member gang nabbed for stealing luxury cars
dubai — The Dubai Police have arrested a gang of 10 men for the theft of four luxury cars worth Dh150,000. The suspects, said to be Arabs, targeted high-end cars belonging to a company located in Jebel Ali Port.
Giving an insight into the modus operandi of the gang, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, said that the gang meticulously plotted plan before executing car thefts and left no loopholes.
He added that after the cars were stolen, the gang members transported them in truck and hid them in a warehouse in another emirate.
Maj-Gen- Al Marri appreciated the efforts of the Dubai Police team for recovering the stolen cars and busting the notorious gang which went into a hiding in neighbouring emirates.
Assistant Commander-inChief of the Dubai Police for criminal investigation, MajorGeneral Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri said the police received information about the car thefts from Jebel Ali Port only earlier this month and the team was able to identify and nab the culprits within 24 hours.
He said the gang cut the iron fencing surrounding the company and sneaked into the parking where the expensive cars were parked. Before striking, the gang already gathered information about the cars and targeted only those decided upon.
During interrogation, the main culprit admitted that he and other members of the gang had stolen the cars from the Jebel Ali Port company.
