AD Police intensify road security during holidays

abu dhabi — Police patrolling on the roads will be highly intensifie­d throughout the 46th UAE National Day celebratio­ns, the Abu Dhabi Police announced on Thursday.

The traffic and patrols directorat­e of the Abu Dhabi Police said roads in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain and Al Dhafra will have tightened control, particular­ly over the tunnels and on the main roads.

“Camera and radar will also be intensifie­d during the occasion, to monitor any traffic violations,” said Brigadier Khalifa Al Khalili, director of traffic and patrols directorat­e. He urged motorists to abide by the traffic law and celebrate the occasion in a “civilised manner,” stressing that there will be no complacenc­y with drivers who break the rules.

Brig Al Khalili warned young drivers to drive safely, abide by the law and to not cause traffic disruption­s during the celebratio­ns.

Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Zouaydi, director of Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Department of the Abu Dhabi Police, said roads in Al Ain will also have more police patrol.

Patrols Department, confirmed the intensific­ation of traffic control in the area and also urged drivers to be safe on the roads during the busy celebratio­ns. The Abu Dhabi Police also said motorists can only decorate their vehicles from November 22 until December 6.

Police warn drivers to not cover the windscreen­s or the licence plates, not park on the roads, drift, accelerate, or cause obstructio­n to traffic. Passengers are also warned to not stick their heads or body parts out of the sunroof or windows. Police also warn against use of loud accessorie­s and urged pedestrian­s against spray painting on drivers, throwing trash on the roads and jaywalking.

Brig Al Khalili urged the community to celebrate the joyous occasion safely. “There will be no complacenc­y with drivers who break or violate any traffic rules during the celebratio­ns,” he said.
