RULERS HONOUR COUNTRY’S BRAVE MARTYRS
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the other Emirates Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of Sharjah; Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman; Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi of Fujairah; Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla of Umm Al Quwain; and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah attended Commemoration Day (Martyrs Day) events at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
abu dhabi — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, attended Commemoration Day (Martyrs Day)’s events on Thursday at the Martyrs Monument in Abu Dhabi.
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah; His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman; His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah; His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain; and His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, also attended the events.
The ceremony also saw the participation of Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers of the Emirates.
On behalf of the martyrs’ families, Major-General Salih Mohammed Saleh Majran Al Amiri, Commander of the Ground Forces, delivered the opening speech in which he stressed that celebrating the Martyr’s Day is a reminder to all of us that the present day of freedom and prosperity is due to the sacrifices of our martyrs.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed inaugurated the new visitors’ centre in the Martyrs Monument. The state-of-the-art centre includes a number of sections where visitors are acquainted with the values of altruism and generosity which are embodied in the sacrifices of the UAE martyrs and heroes throughout history. The centre gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the fallen heroes of the UAE by looking closely at the collections of martyrs and the values they represent and their unlimited offers not only in the service of the UAE but also of humanity as a whole. — Wam
