Creators of iconic projects

-

ALDAR PROPERTIES is to Abu Dhabi what Emaar is to Dubai. The property development and management company has Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak leading the charge as board chairman.

The developer is responsible for creating a majority of the iconic, modern projects in the capital. These include Al Raha Beach, Al Raha Gardens, the Aldar Headquarter building (commonly known as the Coin Building) and Yas Island — which hosts the Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Waterworld, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Mall, which are some of the major tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi. The destination will also welcome Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi in 2018 and Sea World in 2022. The Abu Dhabi media zone twofour54 recently appointed Aldar Properties to develop its new, permanent home on Yas Island.

Reflecting the mid-market property trends gaining momentum across the UAE property market, Aldar also launched two affordable housing projects — The Bridges and Water’s Edge — on Yas Island this year to complement the rest of its residential offerings.

Some of Aldar’s other big-ticket projects are its flagship Sun & Sky Towers on Reem Island, Golf Gardens, Khalidiya Village and Sas Al Nakhl. Aldar had merged with another leading developer, Sorouh, in 2013 for operational efficiencies and to benefit from economy of scale. The merged entity became the second-biggest listed property firm in the UAE and one of the biggest in the Middle East.
