The society has started posting daily video reports of all the fish markets of the northern emirate to make people aware about the types and prices of the fish available there.

Khalifa Saif Al Muhairi, chairman of the RAK Fishermen Society, said the move is the first-of-its-kind not only in the country but also in the entire region.

“So many people have liked our daily reports and given their feedback on the pioneering initiative which is very helpful to them in deciding what and how much fish to buy.

“The information also helps protect customers’ rights against greedy fish traders,” he pointed out. “They also get acquainted with the fresh fish available in the market.”

Al Muhairi, who creates the daily reports, said most of the reports come from the two main fish markets in the emirate: the Old Ras Al Khaimah Market in the morning and the Muairidh market in the evening. “Besides making people
