How green is your school?

Vinishaa Sri Govindaraj Grade 10, Indian High School, Dubai

My school has got a really eco-friendly environment. It’s always been lush green at every nook and corner. The school is all lined with beautiful shrubs and bougainvillea all around. The plants are well managed and regularly watered too. As icing on the cake, they have recently established the Urban Forest that has brought a wonderful replica of the forest surrounding. These give us students positive vibes and makes us feel better around with more plants. The forest bathing methodology has brought a great difference towards the outlook of a typical school ground with just concrete structures around.

My school has its own garden, that we call it as “Rock Garden”. They are many plants grown there. We also have many different types of plants like medicinal herbs and vegetable plants. This helps us learn more about different types of plants and the beauties of nature. There are also many shrubs planted outside our blocks. We are also encouraged to plant different types of plants on our birthdays. I had planted two plants on my birthday.

Sravya Nagalakunta Grade 8, The Indian High School, Dubai

My school has achieved heights in aspects of a greener environment. Recently The Indian High School launched a green project named the “Urban Forest “. This defeats the most common threat, climate change. The school had also taken up the initiative to give back to the community on a higher scale. The whole new atmosphere of the school is impeccably amazing. It seemingly soothes one’s mind to a great extent and this really helps the students enjoy the outdoors. I hope to see more green steps in the future.

We are following our school ‘eco-code’ and have planted many trees in our school. Our green field is stretched to both senior and primary wings. All the children contribute to the environment — by collecting used oil for the blue campaign and newspapers for recycling. We also celebrate ‘paperless pause’ at the school. On this day, we do not use or write anything on paper but do lot of activities related to the subject. We also pledge to reduce global warming every year. There was also an ecodrive where we went to clean the environment.
