Bilawal promises to raise disabled job quota
islamabad — Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stressed that differently-able community should be given adequate opportunities and facilities to grow and utilise their full potential for the overall good of the society and a better life for themselves.
In his message on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities being observed by the United Nations on Sunday, Bilawal endorsed the UN theme for the day — “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”. He said persons with certain physical disabilities were never a burden on the society but they were truly a source of inspiration for the rest of the humans.
“They just need what is their due from the society to contribute their part in the development and progress of the country.”
Bilawal appreciated that the Sindh government had increased the job quota for the candidates with disabilities from two to five per cent and formed a committee to implement this quota in letter and spirit.
The PPP chairman also pledged that his party would work to increase the employment quota for the persons with disabilities in federal and provincial government departments to five per cent.
Meanwhile, Samina Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, wife of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on Sunday said that a special ambulance service would be launched soon for special children as the government was committed to ensuring maximum facilities for them.
Addressing a function in connection with International Day for the Persons with Disability here at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Samina Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the word disabled must not be used for the special children as they are assets of the country. —
