9 arrested for theft and rape in Dubai

dubai — The Dubai Public Prosecution is interrogating five Emiratis and four Asians, who were referred to them by the Dubai Police, for involving in rape of a woman and theft from the flat, which was functioning as a brothel.

According to sources, the operations room of the police received a call about a rape and theft incident in a house located in Al Waheed area, at 3am recently. A police patrol team was dispatched immediately to the location. It was found that six Asian women and a man who had been working as prostitutes were subjected to theft.

The complainants — 35-yearold male S.B. and females M.A. (24), B.T. (23), S.P. (30), M.B. (25), B.A. (28), A.M. (31) — told the police that a group of men stole their money after threatening them with knives. They spoke in Arabic and Pashto, according to the complainants.

They gave descriptions of the thieves who broke into the house and left with their money and mobile phones.

One of the complainants, S.P., was raped by two men in the group. The police referred the woman subjected to rape to the forensic laboratory. They then managed to arrest all the nine suspects.

During the police interrogation, the third suspect confessed that all suspects headed to the flat, which was running as a brothel, for theft. He said some of the accused came from Sharjah to Dubai and met the other suspects and took them to the flat. After they broke into the house and stole Dh4,500, they divided the money among themselves. They also took 62 mobile phones found in the possession of the victims .

The police arrested the first and second Emirati suspects from Al Khawaneej area, who confessed they raped the woman. Three of the suspects were arrested in Al Qasimiya area in Sharjah and rest of them from different areas in Dubai — all on the same day.
