Motorist rams into pedestrian­s, one killed, 3 hurt

dubai — The Dubai Police arrested an Asian involved in a hitand-run case within an hour of the incident. The motorist had rammed his vehicle into four pedestrian­s — killing one — and fled the scene.

On being informed about the accident, the criminal investigat­ion team, in cooperatio­n with Al Qusais police station and Sharjah Police, took swift action and nabbed the culprit in less than 60 minutes.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for criminal investigat­ion affairs, confirmed that the officers tracked the driver down and his escape makes it a bigger crime.

Brigadier Yousef Al Adidi, director of Al Qusais police station, said that operations room of the Dubai Police received informatio­n at 9:45pm on Friday that four Asians walking on a road’s shoulder were hit by a concrete mixer vehicle on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in the direction of Sharjah.

One of the victims had died, while another was seriously injured. Two of the pedestrian­s had escaped with minor injuries.

The man, who got scared after the incident and fled the scene, admitted having hit four people.

The police team succeeded in tracking the motorist along with his car that caused the accident at his residence. The driver was taken aback on seeing the cops, who nabbed him.
