Voters’ verificati­on drive from Dec 15

rawalpindi — A door-to-door voters verificati­on process will start in Rawalpindi district from December 15.

According to District Election Commission­er Rawalpindi sources, all arrangemen­ts have been finalised in this regard and efforts would be made to complete the verificati­on campaign within the prescribed time frame.

The sources said at present the total registered voters of Rawalpindi district stood at 2,947,715, including 1,573,117 male and 1,374,598 female.

Twenty-nine assistant registrati­on officers and 2,221 verificati­on officers had been assigned to complete the task by January 7.

The sources said that after completion of the first phase, verified voters lists would be displayed at 199 display centres at prominent places in the district from January 8 to February 6.

Objections to the voter lists could be submitted from January 8 to February 16, while final lists would be displayed on April 10 at the office of the district election commission­er.

The names of the deceased would be deleted from the lists during the process while new entries would be made on the permanent or temporary residence addresses basis printed on the ID cards.
