Al Maarifa advance in UAE Schools Cup

sharjah — The largest youth football scouting platform in the UAE, du football champions (duFC), home of the UAE Schools & Streets Cups, saw teams in the Northern Emirates playing their best football to secure their spots in the National semifinals which will take place on March 17, 2018 at the Sevens in Dubai.

With LaLiga scouts attending every match in search of the nation’s most talented football players, the young boys from Northern Emirates played their best football, raising the bar for players in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In the U16 category of the UAE Schools Cup, Al Maarifa Internatio­nal Private School, Sharjah breezed through their group stages, but had a tough round of knock outs going to penalties against Al Kamal American Internatio­nal School Sharjah.

They then faced their toughest match to date against National Charity School Al Qadiseya Sharjah, but three consecutiv­e goals in the 10th, 15th, and 18th minutes saw them taking the match 3-1 to secure their spot.

Teams playing in the UAE Street Cup this season are eager to show the LaLiga scouts they have what it takes to play pro-football and in Northern Emirates played stellar football. With some familiar faces returning to the pitches in Norther Emirates for another chance to shine, the play was intense. Teams moving forward to Dubai are Grinta and Profession­al.
