Spread Islamic message of tolerance, Sheikha Fatima urges scholars
abu dhabi — Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak has called on Muslim scholars and Islamic institutions to exert efforts to make Islam’s central tenets accessible, to encourage peaceful co-existence, assist young Muslims with their identity, and spread moderate thought and understanding.
The chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU) President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) stated this while meeting with a delegation from the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, taking place on December 11-13.
She emphasised the need for dialogue with young people to end negative stereotypes about religions and cultures, and to address the Islamophobia expressed in the media and on social networking sites.
Sheikha Fatima also called on scholars to spread knowledge and awareness of Islam and its message of tolerance, and brotherhood among humanity.
The forum aims to shed light on the authentic image of Islam and the role that scholars play to eliminate misconceptions and negative perspectives of the Islamic faith.
Sheikha Fatima went on to say that the UAE’s principles of tolerance and co-existence were laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who actively engaged with other societies and cultures. —
