-

multan — Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that his party had programmes and plans to pull the country out of crises.

Addressing a public meeting here at Qasim Bagh Stadium, Asif Ali Zardari claimed the PPP would win the next general election with the help of public support.

When PPP had come into power in 2008 after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the country was facing several challenges, he reminded the gathering and added the party had sent military president Gen Pervez Musharraf packing with the power of masses.

The former president claimed the people were better off during PPP’s tenure. Asif Zardari said the PPP leaders and workers faced jails and suffered torture at police cells and had rendered great sacrifices for the promotion of democracy in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said the youth was his party’s strength and they had many programmes for their welfare.

Bilawal said that the next general election would be his first and Imran Khan’s last election, adding that the party would extend equal opportunities to youth which makes 60 per cent of country’s total population.

He claimed the PPP would establish a separate province for South Punjab after winning the next general election.

Bilawal said the PPP is a farmerfriendly party and would bring about revolution in the agriculture sector by introducing cooperative farming.

He announced that General Sales Tax on farm inputs would be abolished if the PPP came into power in 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is the new ray of hope for the country.

He said that Pakistan would progress under the leadership of PPP, adding the PPP was the party of the poor, labourers, lawyers, students and farmers. — APP
