T10 will attract new fans, feels Misbah

- James Jose

sharjah — Punjabi Legends captain Misbah-ul-Haq felt that the T10 format will help in attracting new fans to cricket and suggested a few tweaks in the T10 League next year.

“It is quite exciting, especially for the fans, especially for those who are new to cricket. It is definitely going to attract them more because it is more exciting and thrill throughout the 90 minutes. I think to attract new fans to the sport, this is the way to go,” said Misbah-ul-Haq.

The former Pakistan captain also said that the organisers could do well in reducing the powerplay in the next edition.

“It is quite difficult, especially for the bowlers. It is not that easy. Maybe in the next edition, if they can reduce the powerplay a little bit because in 10 overs, four overs of powerplay, with the new ball, with the boundaries short, the wicket being true, it becomes difficult for the bowlers and the bowling side. So, maybe, two overs or three overs of powerplay would be ideal,” he said.

Meanwhile, Misbah was proud of his side despite them losing the final against the Kerala Kings. “We were quite confident the way we came back in the tournament. But, obviously, Kerala played better cricket and they deserved to win the title. But still, I think what we have achieved in this tournament — it was the first T10 — we were playing for the first time with this group and whatever we achieved, we are proud of that. It was a good performance by the whole team,” Misbah said.
