Register your car trailers or face a fine of Dh1,000

- Afkar Abdullah

sharjah — The Sharjah Police have urged owners of unlicensed or unregistered trailers to inspect and register their trailers before the end of December. The failure to register will result in a fine of Dh1,000.

The traffic and licence department of the Sharjah Police have urged private owners and companies to register their trailers as part of the emirate’s strategic plan to ensure the safety of road users and prevent the many accidents caused by trailers that failed to abide by specified standards.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hamed Al Jalaf, deputy director of the machines and motorists licence at the Sharjah Police, the step comes as part of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) plan to ensure that the trailers used are safe and that registering them will provide details of the owners. Each registered trailer will have a plate number that will be placed at the rear of the trailer.

“People should register the trailers through Tasjeel centres before the deadline and the trailer must be registered annually. The police will launch a crackdown in January 2018 to ensure that all trailers are registered.”

He added that on the occasion of 50 years of the Sharjah Police, registration fee will be waived off for the first 50 applicants.
