The battle for 2019 elections has begun

-

Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections have had many twists and turns, ups and downs. The results have surprised many, but on the whole it was a fascinating election with fabulous results. A distinctive feature was the rise of Rahul Gandhi as a matured and improved leader. Still, he is no match for Modi’s eloquence and declamation. Rahul Gandhi is young, dynamic and energetic. He has shown spunk in his recent speeches, and has been a crowd puller. Rahul is learning to feel the pulse of the voters, too. In due of course of time, Rahul could elevate his party to new heights and become a leader of a people infuriated by the mess created by the BJP. The verdict of two states reflects trends of the 2019 general elections. Forthcoming assembly elections might just ratify it. The picture is clear, a strong force through Rahul Gandhi is emerging to tame the BJP and throw them out of power. In this sense, this force may cause a disastrous collapse of BJP. Unless BJP realises and contains the meltdown, 2019 is not far away, and BJP may get ready to close their shop. Clearly, the writing is on the wall — BJP has to ensure better coordination with its partners and regional alliances. Hollow promises can no longer fool people. Fulfill the promises, no more dereliction from the duty, no more digression from the ‘vikas’ theory. Rahul, on the other hand, should focus on people’s genuine problems. Caste based, divisive tactics and minority appeasement would not only back fire, but also earn bad results with strong blows. Indian voters would witness an interesting, challenging melodrama in 2019 Lok Sabha pollsThe battle has begun.
