UK Malayali Muslims celebrate Prophet’s birthday
london — Al Ihsan, an association of UK Malayali Muslims, organised activities in London to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on December 16.
The get-together — the 9th Annual London Meelad Conference — started at midday and continued till 11pm.
Children showcased their talents with various songs and speeches. They performed the popular, lively and traditional Kerala Muslim folk song called Duff Mutt. Children and adults also participated in various offstage events.
The programme included a Moulid (remembrance session of the Prophet), songs of praise, speeches, spiritual meditation sessions and prayers.
This event is the culmination of a month-long campaign held each year by Al Ihsan in the Islamic month of Rabi Al Awwal. Various zonal programmes were held successfully by Al Ihsan in different parts of London and elsewhere in UK leading up to this grand Meelad Conference.
Al Ihsan trustee Shahul Hameed briefed the audience on the history and activities of Al Ihsan, a UK registered charity organisation.
The charity has been in operation for over 10 years having established deep roots within the diaspora of Malayali Muslim community living in and around London. He said Al Ihsan has been conducting Meelad Conferences for nine years very successfully.
