HOW WAIN WORKS
A- Investment cycle opens: Wain put a call out to entrepreneurs via our networks — personal contacts, accelerators, media etc. Applicants must meet specific criteria: 1. At least one woman founder with a significant equity stake; 2. At least one woman on the management team; 3. Early stage enterprise; preferably based in the Middle East; 4. Company must not be engaged in any unethical activity. 5. Company must complete an online application form on Proseeder.com and submit their pitch deck and financials.
B - Prescreening by directors — whittle out incomplete applications or those that don’t meet the criteria; short-list to top 10 companies.
C– First Vote by angels to select top 5 companies — based on certain criteria (team; product / service; market opportunity; scalability; business model) using Wain scoring (1-5).
D– Pitch Day where successful entrepreneurs present to the angels. 30 minutes per session including Q&A.
E – Short-listing by angels to select top companies for due diligence. Angels form deal teams with a deal lead to undertake comprehensive due diligence and preparing an investment memo. Due diligence takes 4 weeks.
F– Final vote by angels based on investment memo and recommendations from each due diligence team. If two-thirds of votes for the company, Wain invests in it collectively.
